The Friends of the Oceanside Public Library invite the community to the Oceanside Civic Center Library at 330 North Coast Highway to the Crafty & Big Book Sale on Saturday, December 7.  In addition to a Big Book Sale, with most used books on sale for only one dollar, the event also features a Crafty Sale, with handmade gifts for purchase and an exciting silent auction.

The Crafty & Big Book Sale opens at 10 a.m. to all, but begins early at 9 a.m. for Friends of the Oceanside Public Library members only.  Memberships, starting at $20 per year, are available for purchase at the door.

The Friends have creative members that have crafted an array of one-of-a-kind, hand-made gifts and keepsakes for sale.  Along with thousands of great bargain books available for purchase, hand-crafted items such as cuddly crocheted critters, home and holiday décor, jewelry, and art make up the various crafty offerings.  The Big Book Sale features a mix of books and DVDs all priced at just $1 each.  Special gift books, art works, and puzzles are specially priced, and helpful volunteers will be on-hand to assist attendees in finding and purchasing all the books and crafts they can carry.

The event will also feature a silent auction, where attendees will bid on an Oceanside vacation rental stay, creative gift baskets, and items from local businesses such as Regal Cinemas, Ace Hardware and Joe’s Crab Shack, as well as works by local artists.

Proceeds from memberships and fundraising events such as these make Library programs for all ages possible.  The Friends of the Library support everything from purchasing books for the Library’s collection to funding events such as storytimes, teen activities, technology assistance, community-centered programming, including Library Club for adults with special needs, Homework Helpers, and cultural celebrations.
